I believe your would very much enjoy listening to a sermon/teaching by a missionary Paris Reidhead titled “Ten Shekels and a Shirt” it is a classic and deals with todays focus of Humanism. This sermon is easily found on the internet in audio.

  3. hansston says:

You are right, great sermon, enjoyed and brought closer, thanks, Kevin Here is a link to the text of the sermon: http://www.parisreidheadbibleteachingministries.org/tenshekels.shtml

    • Jack says:

Glad you enjoyed the Paris Reidhead sermon, here is a very stirring message by the late David Wilkerson found on You Tube: “a call to anguish”

Hello there! Thank you for visiting my blog and liking my post on “The Harbinger” (http://meshawnsenior.wordpress.com/2012/03/06/the-harbinger/). It’s an excellent and (I believe) anointed book. It’s really a shame Jonathan Cahn is getting so much criticism via certain “discernment” ministries, though. Here’s an interview he did a couple of months ago in which he addresses all the onslaughts that have been launched against him and his book: http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/understanding-the-times/listen/the-harbinger-for-such-a-time-as-this-291321.html

    Be blessed! Meshawn

(A great lesson to be learned. “Balaam a prophet for profit sermon, by Dr. J. Vernon McGee”
(if just punch in a search with the above title you’ll find this great sermon) Jack

    • hansston says:

You have led me to one of my favorite preaching points for the society we live in. Here is Vernon McGee’s quote from the sermon:

As you read this awful account that follows, you will see what happened as a result of Balaam’s counsel. He says something like this to Balak, “Now I can’t curse them, but I can tell you how to destroy them. You go down and join them – get the good-looking women of Moab to go down to the camp and get acquainted.” And so the Moabite women “caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to trespass against the LORD…” (Numbers 31:16). With fornication came idolatry into the camp of Israel. What the devil couldn’t do by cursing and fighting from the outside, he did from the inside.

It is true that “no weapon formed against you shall prosper”; yet many Christians live cursed lives. How does it happen? Balaam serves as the perfect example. He could not curse what God has blessed and neither can the “gates of hell” succeed against the church. But, our enemy can get us to curse ourselves. Thus, Balaam counseled for the pretty girls to go mix it up with the Israelite men and they brought a curse down upon themselves. A cursed individual, who should be walking in victory, a cursed church that should be upholding the gospel for the world to see, and a cursed nation that was established to be that light on a hill; all cursed because they have allowed the strategy of Balaam to be used against them, to draw them into sin thus bringing a curse upon their lives and their children’s lives.

We thank God that the curse can be broken through the blood of Christ. Onward and upward.

Realizing that our U.S. news media is bias and bought off by private interest groups here is a good Jewish News outlet called “DEBKAfile.”

I think you will enjoy this man’s presentation, just punch in on a search: “National Religious Apostasy (4)

    • hansston says:

Great sermon…that is why I am part of a church trying to reach the city we live in with the Word of God. How is your concern being manifested in ministry? “Pick up your cross” can mean a call to pick up your ministry as the cross represented the purpose (or ministry) for Christ’s coming to earth to die for our sins. “Pick up your ministry” is what I will be preaching tonight.

  9. Jack says:

How long do we have? The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from begginning of history, has been abourt 200 years. During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence: 1.from bondage to spiritual faith; 2. from spiritual faith to great courage; 3. from courage to liberty; 4. from liberty to abundance; 5. from abundance to complacency; 6. from complacency to apathy; 7. from apathy to dependence; 8. From dependence back into bondage. (Question, is this not where our nation is today?)

    • hansston says:

Jack, I have been thinking of a response to your question. I needed to digest the election along with the business of life but just posted an essay. Looking at what I wrote I would say we are at 7, but I am still hoping the hope that cannot be seen, if you know what I mean.

  10. Jack says:

Excellent observation by you. In Hebrews 4 v 12 = For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to dividing of soul and spirit, and the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. It seems that today the focus in ministry seeks to influence the soulish man rather than the spirit man. We seem to keep trying to move the bounderies from spirit to flesh. Instead of the gospel influencing culture, culture has and is changing the gospel. Here’s an illustration: I had a lawnmower years ago and eventually replaced every piece of the origional. Once compromise is started there is no stopping point. We have what I call modern day word merchants that have changed the truth of God into a lie, such as: Not adultry but an extra marital affair; Not Abortion being murder but Pro Choice; Homosexuality Not perversion and sin but sexual preference; and on and on it goes. Proverbs 22 v 28 = says remove not the ancient landmark which thy fathers have set. Now we know you can be an old fool the same as a young fool, but in order to stay on the path to the truth we have to be careful what we embrace. Check this out on YouTube and you’ll see how far it has come in certain circles: punch in: “The Occult in the church (discernment video)” Notice the voodo spirit in this video.

    • hansston says:

Jack, it is an unpleasant picture of the church. Many people, especially those who believe in the gifts of the Spirit, have a difficult time rectifying their everyday struggle of faith with the wild moving of the Spirit that always seems to be beckoning them. The names are new but the pattern is the same: Toronto Blessing, Laughing Revival or Brownsville. The problem is that our daily walk with Christ when measured against the incredible reports of miracles and refreshing leaves us feeling that we are missing something, and we start to believe that we can find that something when we go to the special place where God is moving. There is nothing wrong with going to a special event and getting a refreshing in the Spirit, the problem is that we begin to exclude God from moving through the “everdays” of our lives and are constantly looking for the next spiritual circus to fulfill our own spiritual drought. Sometimes it is good to remember that the Kingdom of God is “within you”.

There is a pattern with these special movements of the Spirit that links to end time prophecy: Matt 24:23-24 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
      NKJV

There is something right about being in church, having a pastor and being able to make decisions with the “multitude of counsel”.

  11. Jack says:

Why does no one teach about the pagan celebrations: Interesting video on YouTube: “The Pagan origon of Lent and Easter – You Tube” (Babylon paganism continues for millions because no one seems to think there is any value in exposing these pagan practices)

    • hansston says:

The Pagan celebrations tied to the seasons are real. The names of the week are tied to Pagan names of gods. Some of the Jewish feasts are tied to the planting season. The difference is the morality or lack of morality tied to a Pagan celebration verses a Christian or Jewish linkage to the same time period (as in Easter and Passover). The difference should be obvious to anyone who looks into the backgrounds of the feasts, holidays and Pagan celebrations.

This is a picture of how we handle the season we are in: https://spartachurch.wordpress.com/2012/04/10/our-easter-love-feast/

The meal is alot of fun as well as spiritually filling. We cancel Sunday evening service and all bring our dishes to church at 2:00 in 5 serving dishes so that we can all sit down and stat eating together. Feel free to join us this Easter Sunday (there is some logic to the variation between Easter Sunday and Passover).

  12. hansston says:

Jack, I was happily announcing 2:00 for our “feast” when I was gently reminded that we have done it at 5:00 in the past which gave everyone time to prepare their dishes, so as stated above, let me know if you would like to come by at “5:00” this Sunday.

  13. Jack says:

Just read your report on the 6th grade class that you were teaching. This reinforces what we already knew about the American news media and our elected officials. In the “Debkafile” news website today they continued the real truth about the Boston massacres, worth a read. I heard today on a Christian outlet that 90% of schools no longer allow parents of students to see or review the books used by their children. Being politically correct and Biblically correct is no longer possible for the most part. I salute you for digging deeper into the truth than just scratching the surface. We live in a time of great deception and we must realize it’s Truth or Consequences.

  14. hansston says:

Truely, “is there not a cause?”

  15. Jack says:

Sin is the transgression of God’s law and today we see the laws of God being changed and endorsing laws contrary to the laws of God and this is sin, that word that seems to have disappeared in this last generation. There is a great sermon on “Sermon Audio” website entitled: “Exceeding Sinfulness” by Harold E. Brunson. (it is worth a listen) Jack

  16. Jack Vinson says:

Check this teaching out on You Tube: Jacob Prasch – The Spirit of the age. (Great presentation this guy is quite a teacher I know you’ll enjoy it.)

  17. hansston says:

I did enjoy it. It helps me wrestle with my own understanding of a curse. His conclusion: paraphrase: A door closed by Jesus can only be opened by Jesus; thus our part is to pray.

To further link it to the direction I seemed to be going was the premise that a person given over to a false spirit of the age has had a true encounter with a Christian and a thorough examination of the Word of God vs. their false spiritual understanding.

My own experiences tell me that those kind of encounters are very difficult to have.

A society that has shut out even the mention of biblical truths is a society run by an anti-Christ spirit. Our “Is there not a cause” calling is to somehow (in my opinion) bring back the Word of God into the marketplace of ideas that people have contact with.

I am feeling more confident in the direction of “one minute bible studies” for our church here in Sparta and anyone else who would like to incorporate the activity into their lives.

  20. Jack Vinson says:

on you tube there is a post of a video “a night honoring Jack Harris” , excellent, he shows a documentary of his over ten years doing missionary work in Iraq with the Kurdish people, worth a look.

  21. hansston says:

Thanks Mr. Vinson, will take a look, heading for Europe for 3 weeks. Added German, Croatian and Dutch to oneminutebiblesutdies.
