Drip, Drip, Drip

As a substitute I was part of a class examining a letter from their local state rep. that dealt with fracking. Her bill passed unanimously. It simply instructed the state authorities to respond to requests to frack with more than just a refusal letter which was sent to all requests.

This led to a discussion, or I led us into a discussion, as to who stood for what. Republicans want to drill, they knew that. Democrats were opposed, they knew that. The why’s had to do with money, Republicans liked it, Democrats didn’t. I had to point out the real reason for Republicans was prosperity for business and workers in the energy field. The Democrats felt it would harm the environment and kill animals.

I shared my high paid oil field experience from over 35 years ago and we took a vote. No votes for fracking. I mentioned working for MacDonald’s for 8 bucks an hour or working in the oil fields for 30 to 40 bucks an hour. This got a few of the guys to raise their hands, but the class was solidly against the oil industry.

I wondered why, until I carried out the next step in the class.

CNN news for schools. The opening segment a recap of the damage and status quo from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The world doing its “conforming” (Rom 12:1-2) work.

Topics where we see this: global climate, environment, morals, homosexuality, evolution, foolishness of Christianity, tolerance of everything else.
