We came home from Ohio Tuesday night, had church Wed. night and took off for Fayetteville, AR right after church. We drove 6 hours, including an hour going through a horrendous storm around Joplin. We got into a motel at 2:00. Joan slept until going to work at 6:30 till 2:00 and I started working at 1:30 until 8:30. We were representing Smuckers at Walmart’s 50th anniversary to its employees and managers who had gathered there for the event.
Joan had organized a groupon stay at an old renovated, brick hotel in Harrison called the Hotel Seville. We recovered from the days work that we both thoroughly enjoyed, slept in, and then went for an 8 mile hike. Four miles down the Buffalo River and then up to the ridge overlooking the river, taking in the bluffs as we made our way back to the car.
Had yet to find a good cup of coffee, when that night we discovered Neighbor’s Mill Bakery. We had a coffee and stayed for a dinner. The next day we bought a few things at the farmer’s market, including early peaches, and made our way back to Sparta through the back roads crossing the Mississippi at Chester.
Church Sunday, replaced water heater Monday, Geocaching in St. Louis Tuesday and I still don’t feel like I have caught up with life. I prayed as we started this series of trips that are yet to include an all day outreach to Carbondale and a trip to support a gospel outreach in Washington DC that I could maintain some young man energy. So far so good.
