Brightest Full Moon

Today, May 5, the moon comes closest to Earth in its orbit and it happens to be a full moon, so we can see the moon in its brightest. Joan and I took a trip to Chester, where we got some coffee, found 3 geo-caches and crossed the bridge over to the escarpment of the Mississippi River on the Missouri side. We drove along the wooded ridge until we found a clear spot to watch the moon rise. We could make out details on the moon’s surface with our binoculars. We watched the moon rise as the sun set and then we headed home. From the hilltops we got a clear view of the moon, once down on the lower ground the glorious sight was covered by the low clouds.
